How to apply ?

In order to get a Work Permit, you first of all need the work, and this of course involves applying for trucking jobs or approaching companies with your Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV). Firstly you will need to ascertain whether or not you are eligible to apply for a truck driving job in Dubai. 

There are also additional local requirements which need to be met. Drivers applying for long distance driving jobs should have experience of distance hauling. Companies operating into the Dubai will not hire drivers with a criminal record and will often have a minimum age requirement of 21 years.

Anyone meeting the above criteria can apply for a truck driving job in Dubai  but there is often a preference for drivers from particular countries, “drivers from the UK, Europe, Israel, and India are preferred as there is a stronger likelihood that these drivers will have English language skills and experience driving trucks that are frequently used in Dubai companies (ie. Volvo.)”

Employment requirements for Truck Driving Jobs In Dubai:
  • Completion of secondary school is usually required.
  • On-the-job training is provided.
  • A Class D licence is required to drive straight trucks.
  • A Class A licence is required to drive articulated trucks.
  • Air brake endorsement (Z) is required for drivers who operate vehicles equipped with air brakes.
  • Transportation of dangerous goods (TDG) certification is required for drivers who transport hazardous products or dangerous goods. 
In order to work in Dubai you will need a Work Permit and to qualify for a Work Permit you need a job offer from a Dubai employer. The Department of Human Resources and Skills Development Dubai (HRSDD) then either reject or approve your application based on their assessment of the needs of the market and the legitimacy of the job offer.
Your Dubai work permit may have several conditions listed on it regarding the type of work you can do, the employer you can work for and how long you can work in Dubai under this particular Work Permit.

Fast-track option for truck driving jobs

Each Dubai province has their own unique Provincial Nomination Program which can be a quick and easy way into the Dubai Job Market. According to Dubaivisa.com “Participating provinces/territories sign agreements with Citizenship and Immigration Dubai  that allow the provinces to directly select immigrants who meet the requirements they have established.”
Essentially the Provincial Nomination Program allows employers to directly apply for working permits for workers they wish to employ. The program uses the Occupations Under Pressure List which the occupation of ‘truck driver’ is often listed on. Any job on this list can be filled by a foreign worker under the Provincial Nomination Program.
